Matriarch: An Exploration of Feminine Power
Inside each of us there is a power older and wiser than our own consciousness. This wisdom is passed through the feminine experience and lives within. Our theme calls on you to delve into your relationship and interpretation of this seat of power to create a physical representation of the intangible. Your piece may be as literal or tangential as feels natural to you.
Come forward, Matriarch, and let your voice be heard.

All applicants must be 18 years or older upon application submission
Applicants will be chosen based on their ability to bring the theme to life using pole work, floor work, and performance quality. Advanced pole tricks are not necessary to perform, all tricks should help tell the story.
Application Video Requirements
- 2-3 minutes showcasing the style you will perform on the day of the show
- indicative of your pole and floorwork/dance style
- a single take (no edited/spliced clips)
Your video submission does not need to be the exact same as your proposed performance, but it should reflect the overall message you wish to convey during your performance. Include a description of the concept with your video.
Performance Details
Show Location: Charleston SC
Performances should be no less than 2 minutes and no longer than 6 minutes. Email MP3 files of song choice to admin@cirquedufemme.com with the subject line 11/16 Eros Music if accepted to perform no later than Nov 2nd. Please include preferred pole orientation (spin or static)
Performers may perform as a group of up to 5 individuals.
Performers will be using two chrome poles set to spin on stage right and static stage left.
Performers are permitted to strip down to pasties and a g-string. Props are allowed, set up and break down should take no more than 3 minutes. Human props are allowed, they must abide by all performer guidelines. Any liquid props must be cleared before performance. No glitter, confetti, or similar substance.
Performances are NOT judged, this showcase is meant to highlight the talents of all pole dancers. Performers will not be categorized by experience.
Disqualifications
- inebriation or substance use which inhibits proper conduct
- failure to appear on site by call-time (to be shared with accepted performers)
- disruption of show schedule due to factors within performer's control
- extended exposure of genitals (address accidental slips immediately during performance, including pasties)
- injury (hosts will end performance depending on the severity of fall, slip, or other injury)
